it started out with an assignment for my French class, to go see the 2008 film Paris playing at the Landmark Cinema on the Embarcadero. gosh, it was one of the best and most beautiful heart-warming movies i’ve ever seen.
and the experience was spectacular. not crowded, but a diverse sort of audience from elderly to artistic sorts, and it was in a nice location in the Embarcadero shopping center where i could see all the skyscrapers. since i went, i became a Landmark member and signed up for emails on new movies out in the Landmark locations across San Francisco. i have still yet to see a few of these movies, like An Education, Undertow, New York I Love You, and others. yeah, there’s rarely anything mainstream or popular playing here, and i love it. the last movie i saw was Romain Duris and Vanessa Paradis’ Heartbreaker, and my goodness it was so cute and funny!
i definitely recommend anyone to go watch foreign or indie films, they feel more significant to life.
