‘Alex offered Jared and Cameron a ride back to 790, and, although Jared accepted, Cameron didn’t want to. It wasn’t as wet now, and so he didn’t mind the walk. He liked this sort of weather; not only did it remind him of home, but the still of the gray sky, the cool feel of the scattered showers at various intervals of the day, the damp scent of the streets, and the crisp of the air excited him. He wouldn’t want to miss out on such a thrill.
However, as he had only walked four blocks back to Rudin, the rain started to flood the streets. Cameron still was full of excitement, only this time he had to run as to not end up like Sean. What would’ve been an hour walk was now hurried into a forty minute sprint.
He pushed past the bungalow’s gate and after trudging up the steps, he pounded his fist on the door. His excitement was gone, fatigued by lack of excessive energy used for hurrying back. And he was drenched in water.
“Oi! Open up!” he cried. It was Nick who quickly opened and shut the door as Cameron flew past him and into the house. “Thanks,” he said through his breathing as he heavily panted.
“Why didn’t you come with Alex or Jared?” Nick asked, puzzled.
“Reasons known only to writers, I guess. Where are those two? I didn’t see their cars out in front.”’
